CheckMate Inline Check Valve Prevents Sewer Odor Backflow
Challenge
Decatur, IL, embarked upon a downtown street enhancement program. As part of the project, the city wanted to stop foul sewer odors from making their way into the downtown area.
Solution
The CheckMate® Inline Check Valve was selected due to its ability to stop the flow of offensive sewer gas, making it ideal for interceptor and manhole installations. In comparison to more expensive chemical control systems, the CheckMate® saved cost and was a low-maintenance green solution for Decatur.
Results
The total cost of the valve and construction of the manhole was inexpensive compared to the alternatives. The CheckMate® was installed and has worked flawlessly, blocking offensive sewer odors in Decatur, IL.
